Our Beliefs
Sturges is grounded in the Reformed Tradition of the 16th century, and we hold up the absolute sovereignty of God in all things.
We believe that God’s love and grace are extended to all people and that we are saved by the free and loving initiative of the Creator alone.
We believe in Jesus Christ as the son of God, who preached, taught, and healed during his time on Earth. He is the very embodiment of God and lives among us as the Risen Christ. Together we comprise the living Body of Christ and are empowered to do ministry in his name through our weekly worship experience.
We believe in God in the three persons of the Trinity.
We baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We welcome all persons, regardless of lifestyle or the way or manner in which they may present to the world.
We judge no one and pray for each other as we make our way through this earthly pilgrimage. All humans are children of God and are welcome as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
We also believe that because the church is Reformed that it is also constantly being reformed.
We pray for open hearts and open minds as we endeavor to become who God intends us to be!
Our church board has declared Sturges Memorial to be an open and affirming congregation.
